1- Where This Privacy Policy Applies
This Privacy Policy governs the websites, apps, events, and other services we operate under the MateMe brand. Whether you are seeking your perfect match, attending one of our events, or using any of our other fantastic services, this Policy covers you. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as our “service” in this Privacy Policy.
If any of our services require a separate privacy policy, that policy will be available to you, and it will apply instead of this Privacy Policy.
2- Data We Collect
To help you forge meaningful connections, you need to provide us with some personal information, such as basic profile details and the types of individuals you wish to connect with. Engaging with our service will also generate certain data, like your login times and your usage patterns. 3- How Long We Retain Your Data
We want the connections you form through MateMe to be meaningful and enduring, but we retain your personal data only as long as necessary for legitimate business purposes (as detailed in Section 4) and in compliance with applicable laws.
If you choose to stop using our service, you can close your account, and your profile will no longer be visible to other members. Please note that we will automatically close your account if you remain inactive for two years.
After your account is closed, we will delete your data as follows:
To ensure the safety and security of our members, we implement a safety retention period of three months after account closure or one year after an account ban. During this time, we retain your data to investigate any unlawful or harmful activities. This retention period is based on our legitimate interest, as well as the interests of potential third-party victims.
We also keep limited data to meet legal data retention obligations: we retain transaction data for ten years to adhere to tax and accounting regulations, credit card information for the duration needed to resolve any transaction disputes, and "traffic data"/logs for one year for compliance with legal data retention requirements. Additionally, we retain records of consents given by members for five years to demonstrate our compliance with applicable laws.
We maintain other limited data based on our legitimate interests:
- Customer care exchanges will be kept for six years from the date of communication.
- Customer care records, supporting data, and approximate location information (related to downloads or purchases) will be held for five years to support our safety initiatives, inform customer care decisions, enforce our rights, and defend ourselves against potential claims.
- Information about past accounts and subscriptions will be deleted three years after the closure of your last account to aid in accurate financial forecasting and reporting.
- Profile data will be retained for one year in anticipation of potential litigation, to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- Data needed to prevent banned members from creating new accounts will be held for as long as necessary to ensure the safety and vital interests of our users.
Lastly, we may retain data based on our legitimate interest whenever there's an outstanding or potential issue, claim, or dispute, particularly if we receive valid legal subpoenas or requests requiring us to preserve data or if that data is crucial for legal proceedings.
Where legally permissible, we may keep and use data that cannot identify you personally for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, including improving our services and developing new features, technologies, and services to enhance the safety of Match Group services.
